What’s better than a no-holds-barred superhero who makes us laugh while saving the world? Absolutely nothing. And that’s why we’re so excited to see that Deadpool 2 has officially begun filming. The highly-anticipated sequel, which will once again have Ryan Reynolds front and center as the title character, has been in pre-production for some time.

But, Deadpool 2 has undergone some other behind-the-scenes changes.

The film’s first director, Tim Miller, stepped down amicably due to mutual creative differences. Since then, stuntman-turned-director David Leitch stepped up to direct the action-comedy movie. And, thanks to an Instagram post from Reynolds himself, we now know that filming is ~officially~ underway.

The sun sets on day 1. Feels good to be back. This dog can hunt.

Reynolds will be joined in the sequel by Josh Brolin, who has signed on to play Cable. In order to prepare for filming, he’s been working out like a beast. And, hilariously, he’s been trolling Reynolds as he posts pictures of his progress.

Brolin has certainly put in the work to look like the notoriously bulky Marvel superhero. And his captions prove he’s ready to face off with Reynolds onscreen.

It feels only appropriate that a movie with so much humor in it already has so much humor offscreen leading up to the sequel. The movie is slated for a June 1st, 2018 release, so we have to wait a while. But, at least we know it’s officially underway.

And, since the first movie was so delightful, we have no doubt that Deadpool 2 will be just as amazing.
