Justin Timberlake posts grovelling apology over cosy co-star pics

Justin Timberlake has posted a grovelling apology after paparazzi photos of him getting cosy with a co-star were published by the media.

The singer has admitted to a “strong lapse in judgment” in a post on Instagram which received over 8,500 comments in just 30 minutes.

“I stray away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumours that are hurting the people I love,” Justin wrote.

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement - but let me be clear - nothing happened between me and my co-star.”

He added he had drunk “way too much” that night and that he regrets his behaviour.

“I should have known better,” he continued. “This is not the example I want to set for my son.”

His fans were quick to share their support for the father-of-son,

“It takes a big person to admit when they are wrong,” one fan wrote, adding applause emojis.

Others however were not happy with his explanation.

“You have a drinking problem! That was horrible what you did to your family,” was one outraged response.

“Why is he being praised for admitting this,” another wrote.

Justin Timberlake gets close with co-star

Last month the married actor was spotted holding hands with actress Alisha Wainwright while the pair were on a night out drinking.

The 38-year-old, who has been married to 37-year-old Jessica Biel since 2012, was on a break from filming for his upcoming movie, Palmer, when a photographer snapped him getting close with his 30-year-old co-star in a New Orleans bar.

According to The Sun, a source said that “at one stage he grabbed her hand and rested it on his knee. She then gently started stroking his leg.”

“Then he clutched her hand with both of his and was playing with her hands.”

In photos published by The Sun, the pair can indeed be seen locking fingers in one frame, with Alisha resting her hand on the Can’t Stop The Feeling! singer’s knee in another.

Just friends

Alisha also quickly denied there was anything untoward going on, claiming they’re just friends who happened to be enjoying a night out.

"There is no validity to this speculation. They are currently working on a project together," a representative for Alisha told People. "Members of the cast and crew were all together."

The source went on to say that the pair were surrounded by cast and crew of the film and “everybody was just hanging”.

"Like come on, they're on an open balcony in New Orleans and he's famous. It was nothing,” the source said.

While Justin was boozing on a balcony with his co-stars, his wife, Jessica Biel has been gearing up for her next project.

Three days ago she took to her Instagram account to post a group photo from the set of Last Summer, which she’s about to start filming.

The last time she posted a picture to her social media account with her husband was just before Halloween, when she dressed up as an NSYNC Justin Timberlake - complete with tight curls - and Justin donned a microphone outfit.

Justin and Jessica’s relationship timeline

The pair, who are parents to four-year-old son Silas, have weathered their fair share of controversy over the years.

They first met at a surprise party in Hollywood in 2005, however they didn’t actually start dating until 2007, when Justin plucked up the courage to ask for Jessica’s number.

In 2011, they broke up after four years of dating, saying at the time in a statement: "The two remain friends and continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other."

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2011, Justin said: “We talked about marriage”.

"I said that I think the mistake is that people commit to who that person is right then and not the person they're going to become. That's the art of staying together, is changing together."

"When you say it like that, it seems damn near impossible, right?"

By December, the pair were back together and Justin popped the question in Jackson, Wyo.

In October 2012, they married in a fairytale wedding, with Jessica later telling Elle magazine: "It was a bit of a leap of faith at the time."
