DAN WETZEL: Oklahoma State, did they know they had a game yesterday?

PAT FORDE: Oh my gosh. That was one of the biggest no-shows by a top-10 team I've ever seen.

DAN WETZEL: 48-0 they lose to Kansas State. It was like a stunner. And it was right off the bat. I don't know what that was. That's not-- I'd have to look through historically, but no-shows are not really like Gundy's program's thing, right? I mean, this is a-- they don't always win. But my God, this was--

PAT FORDE: Right.

DAN WETZEL: They couldn't stop them at all. 35-0 at the end of the half. Just straight domination.

PAT FORDE: Yeah, that's incredible. It really is. That's bad. I mean, and Kansas State's a very legitimate opponent. They're good. They're tough. They're physical. They've got a great running back in Deuce Vaughn and some other playmakers. But come on, so does Oklahoma State. It's like-- they were pretty beaten up, I know, and they were coming off a pretty big two-game stretch there.

At TCU, they lost in overtime. Then they win kind of a thriller against Texas. And so they were kind of susceptible to walking into something here, but you got to show up a little bit. I mean, that was pitiful. Just horrendous. And, yeah, I would have to look up and see the last time a Gundy team got beaten like that.

ROSS DELLENGER: Yeah, well, last time they were shut out-- I wonder the last time they were even shut out in a game. God, I mean, they-- for so long, they've had such good offenses. And Kansas State was without Adrian Martinez. So they won this game with Will Howard, who threw almost for 300 yards and four touchdowns.

So, man, it's kind of inexplicable that Kansas State lost to Tulane at home and then had the big lead on TCU and gave that up, like everybody else this year against TCU. But, man, I mean, they're like really close, it feels like, to being undefeated.

Man, I wonder, suddenly, if the Wildcats have a chance to really, seriously compete here for the Big 12 title. I mean, you could see them on some collision course with a rematch with TCU or something. How about if we have that, a Kansas State, TCU Big 12 championship game after we had Baylor and Oklahoma State? I'm sure Bob Bowlsby would enjoy that.

PAT FORDE: Oh, yeah. Everybody who's still stuck in the Big 12-- I shouldn't say stuck because it's a pretty good conference. But everybody who's not Texas and Oklahoma would love that. By the way, to answer your question, Thanksgiving weekend 2009, the last time Oklahoma State was shut out.

ROSS DELLENGER: Wow.

PAT FORDE: 27-0 at Oklahoma, so--

ROSS DELLENGER: Wow.

DAN WETZEL: Yeah, I believe it. Hey, Kansas State-- I mean, are we kidding me? Manhattan-- if you've been to Manhattan, Kansas-- I heard this old story from a Kansas State-- he was assistant coach there for once. And he had a-- it was a basketball player. But they flew a basketball recruit into Kansas City. And he picks him up, and he's driving out to Manhattan.

I would think it's maybe 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours. I don't know. It's something like that. But it is just wheat field. There's maybe about 2 minutes you drive through Topeka. The rest of it is just fields and nothing. There's nothing.

And he's trying hard to get-- this kid looked shocked. I can't remember where the kid came from. But he's trying and trying. He's like, hey-- hey, this is great. Good to see you, this. Hey, you're going to love our building.

Kid's not saying a word, not saying a word. He's trying everything. He's talking about the state of Kansas. One time, he just goes, you know, they just redid this whole road. Road is-- this highway is great. We've got a great highway, right? He says-- the kid goes "long, too."

[LAUGHTER]

PAT FORDE: Yeah.

DAN WETZEL: Just turn around, man. This isn't happening.

PAT FORDE: Yeah.

DAN WETZEL: It's not an easy place to build a winner.

PAT FORDE: Oh no.

DAN WETZEL: And so if you can-- and that's what's great. Kansas State, they're in a-- you don't have a chance another way. Now they got a hell of a team.

PAT FORDE: Yeah.

DAN WETZEL: They got a hell of a team.

PAT FORDE: Yeah.
