Kate Beckinsale Slams Troll for Questioning Her Dating Choices After Stepping Out with Pete Davidson

Another day, another Internet troll that Kate Beckinsale has hilariously shut down.

Weeks after the British actress stepped out with Pete Davidson — first, at a Golden Globes afterparty and later, at his stand up comedy show — Beckinsale, 45, slammed another Instagram user who criticized her for her rumored romance with Davidson.

On Saturday, Beckinsale shared a close-up selfie to Instagram with only a portion of her face showing.

She captioned the shot with, “Here’s what I got from five years of biology class : ‘mollusc’ is Latin for ‘soft flesh’ and how to identify and label a urethra. Neither has kicked in yet as useful as of today”

Her post prompted a follower to comment on the photo with their own disapproving thoughts about Beckinsale’s dating life.

“Disappointed in your dating choices,” the user wrote, as captured by Instagram account Comments by Celebs, in reference to Davidson, 25.

Beckinsale wittily wrote back to the fan, “fairly let down by your wonky beard but thought possibly rude to say.”

The exchange also led to some of Beckinsale’s followers to instantly come to her defense.

“Everyone is entitled to make their own dating choices, @katebeckinsale included,” wrote one fan.

“Your relationships are none of our business, but I do hope you find happiness because nothing is more important,” added someone else.

This isn’t the first time Beckinsale has joked with Instagram commenters who have asked about the Saturday Night Live comedian.

After Beckinsale was spotted hitting it off with the comedian at a Golden Globes afterparty in January, one commenter wrote on a throwback photos of Beckinsale’s mother, actress Judy Loe, “Dear heavens, Kate. Not Pete Davidson.”

Captured by Comments by Celebs, Beckinsale responded, writing, “No that’s my mother. Easy mistake.”

Most recently, the actress responded to another fan who asked her about Davidson, alongside an image of her posing next to a photo of the late Freddie Mercury.

“Trying to look like someone who was not wildly over excited about this picture or startled while planning a sneaky lick of Freddie’s eyeball,” Beckinsale captioned the shot.

The commenter then wrote, “Is that a painting of Pete Davidson?” to which Beckinsale jokingly responded, “GREAT EYE”

As PEOPLE previously reported, Davidson and Beckinsale talked intently for most of the night at Netflix’s Golden Globes afterparty, keeping their focus on each other even while mingling with Davidson’s close friend Machine Gun Kelly, Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Eventually, the other members of the group wandered off, and Davidson and Beckinsale continued to chat. One onlooker said they cuddled at the party as well.

Then, the pair was spotted holding hands on Feb. 1 as they left famed music and comedy venue Largo at the Coronet in West Hollywood, California, after Davidson’s stand-up show.

Though they left the venue hand-in-hand and headed back to Davidson’s Santa Monica hotel together, a source close to Beckinsale said her relationship with Davidson is not likely to go any further.

“Kate’s not looking to get serious with someone,” the source told PEOPLE.

Beckinsale was divorced in 2016 from director/producer Len Wiseman. The following summer, she was linked to comedian and actor Matt Rife, 23. The duo called it quits after two months of dating.

In November 2018, Beckinsale started dating British actor and comedian Jack Whitehall, 30. The pair were spotted showing some PDA at a karaoke bar in Los Angeles, kissing at a candle-lit booth.

“He is very much enjoying being single as he is focusing on himself,” the source said in late December.
