Kate Hudson has learned how to navigate raising her kids with "multiple dads."

During a recent episode of Sunday Today with Willie Geist, the 41-year-old actress opened up about sharing her three children with three different men, and how she has "high" expectations for her unconventional family.

"I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place," Hudson said with a laugh. The Almost Famous star shares her oldest son Ryder, 17, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and second son Bingham, 9, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy. She is also mom to her 2-year-old daughter, Rani Rose, with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa.

"The only expectations I really have that are really high on my life is with my kids and with family stuff," the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star added. "Other than that, it's like, I just let it go... I work my a-- off, and then I walk away, and I hope for the best."

Hudson also candidly shared how she's been handling being at home amid the COVID-19 pandemic with her brood. "I wanna be, like, 'Yeah, it's so great and we're figuring out,' but the reality is that there are days that are great, and there's days that I have to remind myself to be grateful," she admitted to Geist, 45.

"I never thought in a million years that I'd spend a year in one place," Hudson continued. "And when you have so many kids, sometimes you have those moments where you're hiding in your bathroom going, 'Please, please, get me out of here!'"

The Music star said that to get through those tough times, she reminds herself of the many "people out there who have lost their loved ones," adding that they "just gotta stay in for a bit" to help the collective good.

Also during her interview, Hudson touched on her estranged relationship with her father, actor and musician Bill Hudson. Growing up, the actress never knew her dad — who was married to mom Goldie Hawn from 1976 to 1982 — and recently opened up about that part of her life in an episode of her Sibling Revelry podcast with brother Oliver Hudson.

"I think that estrangement is unfortunately quite common. I think it's important for people to talk about that," Hudson told Geist of why she decided to speak out about it. "Sometimes [we] need a little bit of talk and humor to move us into places where we can heal some of the wounds."

"It's a 41-year-old issue," she continued, pointing out that while she has a "great family," which includes her mother's longtime love, Kurt Russell, not having a relationship with her dad has had a lasting impact on her.

"I have a great family, I have a beautiful mother, I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life, but it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad," she said. "People sometimes need to hear that they're not alone in that."

Hudson previously addressed her relationship with her biological father in 2016, saying she forgave him for abandoning her as a child.
