  • Kate Middleton has spoken about having to pose with Prince George outside the Lindo Wing hours after his birth in 2013.

  • The royal called the experience "slightly terrifying"

While most women probably wouldn't want to do anything more than lie under a blanket in sweatpants after giving birth, Kate Middleton was fully made-up, wearing a pair of heels and posing for the cameras in a polka dot dress after having Prince George. In fact, the duchess has done the same after the births of all three of her children, but she says the first experience especially was all kinds of scary.

Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate said the appearance was "yeah, slightly terrifying, slightly terrifying, I’m not going to lie."

She added: "Everyone had been so supportive and both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and, you know, we’re hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us, and actually for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important.

"But equally it was coupled with a newborn baby, and inexperienced parents, and the uncertainty of what that held, so there were all sorts of mixed emotions."

She also admitted that she and Prince William chose not to find out the gender of the baby before the birth, but that William was chuffed when they welcomed a baby boy.
