Kate Middleton and Prince William have enjoyed a date night to watch the London West End performance of Dear Evan Hansen.

On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the show at the Noël Coward Theatre which was held in aid of their Royal Foundation due to its focus on mental health. The award-winning musical explores the story of protagonist Evan who struggles with social anxiety disorder.

For the occasion, Kate wore a navy-coloured, button-up dress by Eponine, which she styled with a sparkly silver clutch bag and matching stilettos, both by Jimmy Choo. The royal previously wore the shoes to the BAFTA awards and the Addiction Awareness Week charity gala last year.

Kate finished the look with a pair of diamond chandelier earrings, which she previously wore in 2017, on loan from the Queen.

The look is reflective of London Fashion Week AW20’s runways last week, with silver-hued clothes, hair and dresses seen at the likes of JW Anderson and Erdem.

In the programme’s show notes, William wrote: ‘Catherine and I are delighted to join you this evening for a special charity performance of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre.

'One of the issues that we care passionately about is mental health and we are pleased that Dear Evan Hansen is helping to start important conversations between parents and teenagers about this important subject. Through initiatives including Heads Together and Heads Up, the Royal Foundation is helping tackle the stigma and change the conversation around mental health.’

Once in the foyer, the couple discussed the theme of the play to its author, Steven Levenson, and composers Justin Paul and Benj Pasek.

‘Ten years ago, do you think this play would have been here?’ Prince William asked the trio.

‘I don’t think it would have even existed.’
