Although we rarely get to see the Cambridge family together in public, it's safe to say that Prince William and Kate Middleton are very hands-on parents. In recent years, The Duchess has been spotted in Sainsbury's buying Halloween costumes for her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and apparently loves taking them to a local craft shop. The family also managed to fit in a summer holiday this year, where it's said they spent time riding bikes together and enjoying the most incredible property in the Scilly Isles.

Now, a new Vanity Fair report has revealed Kate's favourite activity to do with the kids in order to keep them busy – and it's one that we can all join in with from home too. "The Duchess, a keen cook, has revealed she spent much of the lockdown baking with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis," writes royal correspondent, Katie Nicholl, who adds that William is very much on board with all the sweet treats... but less so much the mess.

"William has joked that the family kitchen at their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, was an 'explosion of flour and chocolate' as they whiled away the lockdown baking cakes and biscuits," the piece continued. "William has a sweet tooth and one of his favourite treats is chocolate biscuit cake, which was served on the couple’s wedding day and is a recipe Kate knows by heart."

We're sure that Louis in particular is loving any opportunity to dig out the recipe books, given that Kate shared during a festive baking programme that her youngest child is obsessed with Mary Berry. She told the iconic family cook and former Bake Off judge, "One of Louis' first words was 'Mary' because right at his height are all my cooking books in the kitchen bookshelf... And children are really fascinated by faces, and your faces are all over your cooking books and he would say 'That's Mary Berry'... so he would definitely recognise you if he saw you today." Too wholesome, can't cope.

Also, can we just add how lovely it is that The Duke and Duchess had a chocolate biscuit cake served at their show-stopping wedding, and that Kate still makes it for William now, almost a decade down the line? The secret to true love really does lie in the kitchen, it'd seem.
