Kensington Palace's glaringly obvious social media gaffe

Prince William and Kate Middleton might want check - then double-check - before posting to social media after a glaringly obvious gaffe was spotted on the couple’s Instagram account.

The slip-up was made in a photo shared to the @KensingtonRoyal account’s stories on Tuesday to celebrate 999 Day, which falls on Monday in the UK and is held in honour of the country’s police, fire and emergency medical services.

A royal faux-pas

The post, which features a photo of the Duke, 37, paying a visit to the Firefighters Charity at Harcombe House, outside of Exeter, contains a bit of a blooper.

Can you spot it?

Yep, they’ve accidentally repeated the words “when we” twice.

And yes, we know it’s not the Cambridges themselves but a team of experts who run the account behind the scenes, but we still like to picture Wills asking wife Kate for help when picking out the perfect emoji to use.

At the time of publishing, the erroneous image was still live on the royals’ account.

Wills’ tribute to Diana

In another post shared on 999 Day, father-of-three William took the opportunity to pay tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana, by sharing a beautiful throwback photo.

In the family snap from 1988, Wills, then six, and his younger brother, four-year-old Prince Harry, are pictured playing with their cousins Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall atop a red fire engine.

Doting mum Diana is seen keeping a watchful eye over the rambunctious junior royals, who are all sporting gleaming firemen hats.

The happy snap was taken in the yard of the Old Fire Station in the grounds of the Queen’s Sandringham estate, which is located in the same village where the Princess of Wales - then Diana Spencer - was born.
