Kevin Bacon more 'driven' than ever
Kevin Bacon feels "more driven than ever".
The 66-year-old actor insisted there is no secret to his long career and he's determined to continue to make the most of the opportunities that come his way while he still can.
He told The Sunday Times magazine: "Even now, at 66, I still feel driven, perhaps more than ever. It’s like I’m going, well, there’s not that much road left! Some people say that I should take my foot off the gas but I don’t want to.
"There is no secret to longevity — longevity is the secret. Having said that, I don’t think about all this too much: age, the future, life. Maybe I just said that, about there not being too much road left, because I thought it would look good in print?"
As well as his acting career, the 'Footloose' star is also in a band, The Bacon Brothers, with his older sibling Michael Bacon, but he's never wanted to capitalise on his big screen success to further his music career.
He said: "For us, it’s been very grassroots. There has never been any part of me that said, let’s see, I’m a successful actor, what I want to do now is have a record deal. It was never like that.
"It’s always felt as if we were 18, just starting out, touring all the small clubs, packing our own gear and just enjoying ourselves."
And Kevin insisted fans don't only turn out to his concerts just because of his fame.
He said: "I have always been realistic about my fame in all this. The people who come to the shows don’t come to hear our hit record because we haven’t had a hit record! But they don’t come just because of me; they know our music and they sing along.
"With all the tremendous success I’ve had in acting — and I’ve been very grateful for it — there have also been many ups and downs, and at least a hundred times more disappointments and career heartbreaks. But you just keep pounding away."
