Kim Kardashian Explains the Mysterious Feature in Her Bathroom That Left Fans 'Confused'

Kim Kardashian-West is showing off her bathroom — and revealing its greatest mystery.

The KKW beauty mogul gave her followers a tour of her strikingly spare master bath on Instagram stories after a Vogue “73 Questions’ video of the space left many unsettled.

Her unique sinks, which appear to have faucets but no basin, in particular, were cause for confusion about their functionality.

“Since everyone is a little bit confused about our sinks, I thought I would just show you guys a little tour of our bathroom,” the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star says in the video.

But first she shows off her patio, which features two outdoor chairs, and then explains that their “whole ceiling is a light box” in the bathroom. Kardashian-West also pans to her glass-enclosed shower and a massive bathtub, which she says is large enough to fit all three of her kids — North, 5, Saint, 3, and Chicago, 1. (She and husband Kanye West are expecting their fourth child via surrogate in May.)

Finally, she reveals the mysteries of her sinks, which were created by Kanye, the couple’s interior designer Axel Vervoordt and architect Claudio Silvestrin.

“Claudio was the one that said it should be separated from the wall,” Kim says, explaining that her sinks used to be flush against a wall in her bathroom instead of on an island in the middle of the space. “We thought it would be cooler this way.”

Kim explains that they created eight prototypes for think before settling on this one, then demonstrates how it works. Because there is no basin, it looks almost as if water would flow onto the ground or stay on the countertop, but she demonstrates that the surface of the counter has a slight slope, so that the water hits the surface and flows down into a slot at the edge that serves as a drain.

“You can put it on as high pressure as you want and no backsplash will come up,” she explains.

As she’s leaving the bathroom and heading back into the hallway, she also makes a point to show off her light switches, which have three settings: on, off and dim. However, instead of a typical switch with a wall plate, there are simply three tiny buttons that control the lights.

“There’s no box around it which I think is really cool and more visually appealing,” Kim says.

The couple’s home has been the subject of much intrigue and scrutiny, particularly after Kanye posted a series of controversial photos of the interior on Twitter in April 2018.

“Ummm babe. We had a rule to not show our home on social media! Soooo can we now allow KUWTK filming in the home?” Kim tweeted in response. She later clarified that her message was meant to be a joke.

Since then, they have seemingly been more open about snapping pictures inside of their massive abode, which Kris Jenner tweeted in 2018 is worth $60 million.

Most recently, the power couple opened the doors of their home to Vogue for a cover story, where writer Jonathan van Meter revealed that they have a 24/7 manned security pod in their garage as well as two kitchens: one for show and one for staff.

In a “73 Questions” video interview with Vogue, Kardashian gives a tour of the house and says that the vibe of the entire home — not just the bathroom — was Vervoordt, and Kanye.

As for the vibe, she notes, “I would say [it’s] like a minimal monastery.”
