In just a few days, The Beguiled will be hitting theaters. If you’re a fan of Sofia Coppola movies, you might have already gotten your tickets. The Civil War-era film includes a sex scene between Kirsten Dunst and Colin Farrell, which we have to admit, intrigues us a little bit. Especially because Farrell is the only male lead in the movie.

When asked about the moment in question, Dunst made sure to note that yes — it’s definitely an awkward scene.

“We wanted to make it something unique and a little shocking,” Dunst said to E! News. “And we thought, OK, let’s not kiss in this scene—at all—even though it’s a lovemaking scene. We wanted to be aggressive and desperate, and it was clearly [my character] Edwina’s first time. So we wanted it to be weird.”

Dunst also said that the choice to have both characters refrain from kissing was a decision made by both Coppola and herself — just to add that extra touch.

Since Dunst and Farrell aren’t new to the entertainment business by any means, we’re sure the scene is exactly how they envisioned — weird.

In fact, according to E! News, the entire film has a wonderful element of weirdness to it. But, that’s nothing new for Coppola, who previously directed Dunst in films like the weird-yet-wonderful The Virgin Suicides.

We can’t wait to see the movie (and the scene in question) for ourselves. The film is currently in select theaters but will be opening wide on June 30th.
