Kmart shopper's incredible designer hack using $8 item: 'Saving thousands'

The Kmart fan created a bag that resembled one that retails for over $4,000.

A Kmart shopper has stunned Facebook users after sharing a hack to create a designer lookalike bag using three items.

The shopper took to a Kmart fan group page to share her "bougie on a budget" creation that was seemingly modelled off a YSL Loulou chain bag or similar.

She used the off-white Kmart Zig Zag PU Crossbody Bag, which retails for $8, along with a YSL brooch that she found at a flea market and a chain from Etsy. The shopper also added that the bag is "about the size of an iPad mini" and is "very smooshy and fits all the essentials" when asked how big it was.

"They'll never know," she wrote alongside the photo with a cheeky emoji.

"Very clever," someone else added. "Love it."

"Absolutely love what you did to the bag!" another said.

Others described it as "very creative" and "so smart", while one user wrote, "Love your styling and your thinking."

It's unknown how much the shopper spent on the brooch, but if it's genuine YSL, they can set you back up to $800 brand new, but there are similar brooches available on Etsy from $130.

The YSL Loulou bag retails in Australia for $4,200, similar bags such as the Envelop Chain Bag retail for $3860.
