Keeping up with the Kardashians: Kris Jenner 'pulled the plug'
It has been revealed Kris Jenner is the one who decided to “pulled the plug” on Keeping Up With The Kardashians over concerns one family member could cause “irreversible damage” to their brand.
Just days after the shock news broke that KUWTK would end after 14 years, it has been reported the family matriarch was concerned about Kanye West being too much of a “loose cannon”.
“He’s become a loose cannon and she cannot tolerate it anymore,” a source close to the family told The Sun.
The insider also claimed Kim’s husband had “tried to constantly fight with Kris over production and the direction that the show is going”.
But Kris reportedly “was not about to let anybody take the reins” and eventually “had enough”.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians first aired on E! in 2007 and instantly catapulting the family into superstardom.
Kanye West has made headlines in recent months with his very public mental health battle and break downs during his surprise presidential campaign.
Though another source has insisted this is “absolutely false”.
According to Page Six, the show was actually axed because E!'s parent company NBCUniversal was unable to offer the stars of the show any more money amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
It has been suggested the real reason behind the show's ending is because the family asked for more money but the network was unwilling to cough up, following dwindling ratings.
It is thought their previous five season contract was worth $150million.
Kim Kardashian announced that shock news that her family show would come to an end after 14 years and 20 seasons.
“To our amazing fans - It is with heavy hearts that we've made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” the reality star wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.
“After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who've watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children.
“We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.
“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives.
“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” she ended the statement.
Fans were quick to rush to the comments section to lament the end of an era, with the show being one of the longest running reality shows ever made.
Christine Quinn, from Netflix’s Selling Sunset wrote:” NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO KEEP UP WITH NOW?!”
Over the years, they’ve had numerous spin-off shows, including Khloe & Lamar, Kourtney & Kim Take Miami and the short-lived Dash Dolls.
Over the past few seasons, younger sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner have barely appeared on the show, with Rob Kardashian signing off from the series a few seasons ago.
A huge chunk of the last season was dedicated to Kourtney Kardashian’s battle with wanting to step away from filming while her sisters, Kim and Khloe remained onboard.
