Laundry basket debate divides the internet
If you’re still feeling fired up following the recent towel-folding debate on Twitter then you’re in luck as there’s another domestic-related dispute that’s dividing opinion online.
It all kicked off when a member of a Facebook group for Kmart fans posed a seemingly innocuous question about the proper location of a laundry basket for housing dirty clothes.
“Quick question, does everyone put their clothes hamper in the bedroom or laundry?” they asked.
Their question opened the floodgates to hundreds of comments from fellow Facebook users who were keen to share where they put the much-used household item.
Many kept their hamper in the laundry while others were team bathroom, with both sides offering reasons for their choice.
“Laundry - makes it easier to unload into the washing machine,” wrote one.
“Bathroom, no one would walk to the laundry to put dirty clothes in,” replied another.
Some bucked the laundry/bathroom trend altogether, stashing theirs in bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes and hallways instead.
Others had a laundry basket in ‘literally every room’ to cover all bases — often to no avail.
“Bathroom and bedrooms and laundry and surprisingly clothes seem to be able to escape from them all,” one user admitted.
“One in bedroom, one in bathroom and one in laundry... partner’s clothes still end up on floor,” another said.

Several users offered tips and tricks to encourage kids and uncooperative partners to pull their weight.
“Each bedroom and bathroom has a hamper. Every Friday the kids have to take them to the laundry so I can sort and they out them back in their rooms,” explained one.
“We have a laundry hamper in each bathroom. Our teenagers often use their bedroom floor too....but if it’s not in the laundry hamper or the washing machine it doesn't get washed in our house!” another chimed in.
But as one exasperated parent wrote, sometimes it’s easier to admit defeat.
“Do you have teenagers? If so just throw the laundry basket out the door now as not required,” they joked.
