Ever since yesterday, we've had the lyrics running through our head: Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window.... That's because Whitney Port revealed she'd be virtually reuniting with her The Hills BFF Lauren "L.C." Conrad on her podcast, With Whit. Now that the podcast episode has dropped, we are in our feelings. Not only are we getting nostalgic, but, it turns out, the former Teen Vogue interns aren't the "closest of friends" today—and they both got real about why.

Before welcoming Conrad on the show, Port revealed that the two reality stars haven't seen each other "face-to-face" since, at least, before they had their children. Conrad has two children, William (aka Liam), who was born in July 2017, and Charlie, who was born in October 2019. Port's son, Sonny, was also born in 2017. So, doing the math, the Hills co-stars haven't met up in person in at least three years. And, due to the ongoing pandemic, their podcast call was also virtual, so the clock keeps ticking on their face-to-face interactions.

"I love Lauren and will always love Lauren, but we didn’t stay the closest friends," Port said while introducing Conrad.

When Conrad joined the podcast, Port elaborated on the status of their friendship.

"The question I get asked the most is, 'Are you still friends with Lauren?'" she told her guest. As for Port's response to her fans, she said, "My answer to them is always, 'It's friends that you went to college with. Good friends that you have really special experiences with, that you always have love for but that you don’t always keep in touch with."

Conrad said that she gets the same question, too. "I have so much love in my heart for you,” she told Whitney. “And we shared this really weird thing. I think it is, it’s like old college friends. I'll always remember you like that and I'll never have that with anyone else.”

As much as we, as Hills fans, would love to see Whitney and Lauren as BFFs IRL, it's infinitely relatable to share a bonding experience and move forward fondly. Conrad did have some thoughts about part of why they aren't the closest any longer. After The Hills wrapped in 2010, she said that she wanted step away from the reality TV world and "heal." (Notably, Lauren didn't appear in The Hills: New Beginnings.)

Talking about it on the podcast seemed to make both Port and Conrad emotional about the status of their friendship today. So maybe this reunion can bring the former Hills stars even closer as friends moving forward.
