Lee Brammer new mayor of resort municipality
Lee Brammer won the byelection for mayor of the Resort Municipality of Stanley Bridge, Hope River, Bayview, Cavendish and North Rustico, according to unofficial results posted on the community's website.
He earned 150 votes in Monday's byelection in the P.E.I.'s resort community. The other candidate, Sandy MacKay, received 46 votes.
Brammer has been a community councillor for six years.
Brammer told CBC News one of the biggest challenges for the resort municipality council is keeping lines of communication open with residents. The community has about 350 year-round residents, but close to 1,000 when seasonal resident are counted.

"One of the unique things about a resort municipality is there's a realization that people are not going to live there all year," said.
"They're only going to be living there a certain part of the year but they still want a say in how things are done and what direction they take."
The byelection became necessary after the resignation of Matthew Jelley in June. Jelley had served 10 years as mayor.
Brammer praised Jelly for his work leading the community over the last decade, and said he had big shoes to fill.
