Liam Payne has opened up about juggling his career with being a parent.

Liam spoke to the BBC yesterday (May 26) before performing at Radio 1's Biggest Weekend, and he revealed that he felt pressure from external forces about how to be a good dad.

"I think I was pressured quite a lot by the media that I should be at home with my son, but life doesn't stop, it goes on. You have to keep on working," he said. "I'd rather inspire my son, I'd love spending all my time on the sofa with him, but if I'm out here doing this, I'm showing him you work for what you have."

As well as explaining his approach to fatherhood, the singer also shed light on how work on his upcoming album is coming along – and let's just say progress has been slow.

"My songs are about making the Bears, not looking after the Bears," he laughed. "That might change on the second album. I haven't written a song since he was born, I haven't been in the studio. So we'll see what happens."

And not only has Liam being slacking on music producing, he seems he may have been slacking in the gym, too.

"The top won't be coming off today," he said, ahead of his gig at the festival that's being held in Belfast, Coventry, Perth and Swansea this Bank Holiday weekend. "I'm on a dad bod at the moment. I put the video out there and people think that's what's going on, but it's not really."

Liam's performance at the Biggest Weekend brought many viewers to tears, as he staged his own version of a One Direction reunion.
