Crowds cheered as 90 Palestinian prisoners, mostly women and young people, were freed under the Israel-Hamas hostage deal, the Israeli prison service announced early on Monday. On Sunday, the Israeli military announced the return of the first three hostages released from Gaza to Israel, hours after the start of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.Read our blog to see how the day's events unfolded.

Israel's government ratified the Gaza ceasefire deal in the early hours of Saturday after a cabinet meeting that lasted more than six hours.
The Gaza ceasefire was set to come into effect at 8:30am local time on Sunday, Qatari officials said.
