    Jetstar flight turns back after toilet problem

    Well this is not how you'd want to start your holiday.

    A Jetstar flight out of Adelaide heading for Bali has been forced to return just an hour in after the toilets were not working.

    The airline confirmed to news.com.au the toilets were no longer flushing and the decision was made to return so engineers could fix the issue.

  • Woman warned about little-known windscreen offence

    Well I'll be honest, I had no idea I could get fined for this.

    If you have an air freshener hanging from your rear view mirror, it could cost you.

    A driver in WA was recently warned about an obstructed view as a result of her Jelly Belly air freshener and authorities have confirmed it is a legitimate offence costing drivers $100, and even more in other states.

  • King Charles to pause cancer treatment

    In another Royals update, King Charles will reportedly pause his cancer treatment for his upcoming visit of Australia.

    His doctors are happy for him to restart his treatment on his return to the UK, 11 days after leaving, the Daily Mail reported.

    The trip will involve well over 30,000km of travelling with plenty of engagements while in Australia. However a source told the publication Charles is feeling "energised" having returned to work recently.

  • Big new twist after Crumbl 'scam'

    Well there was only one thing for Crumbl to do next, wasn't there?

    After an unofficial pop-up started selling their cookies in Sydney, the cult cookie business from the US says they will enter the country in an official capacity.

    "Crumbl has been inspired to accelerate plans to provide all dessert-loving Aussies, with a true Crumbl experience," the business said in a statement.

  • Urgent recall for Bunnings shoppers in WA city

    There's an urgent recall notice for a Bunnings store in WA after gas cylinders were overfilled.

    The rarely-seen notice impacts customers at Geraldton Bunnings who bought Swap N Go cylinders on September 11.

    If the cylinder is connected to an appliance, there is a serious risk of liquid LPG flowing into the appliance instead of gas, which may cause it to catch fire or explode.

    People are urged to “stop using the cylinder immediately and disconnect it from any appliance”.

  • Former Socceroo causes storm with King Charles rejection

    Former Socceroo Craig Foster has caused a storm online for publicly rejecting an invitation to an event with King Charles when he visits Australia this month.

    Foster, a vocal human rights activist, made his feelings very clear on the monarchy, sharing a post on X of an invite he received from NSW Premier Chris Minns.

    "Thanks but no thanks," he wrote.

    “I look forward to being ‘in the presence of’ our first Aussie Head of State. When we put our big pants on, as a country.”

    His remarks have been divisive, receiving support from some however others called the move "self-indulgent".

  • Qantas plays 'inappropriate' movie to passengers

    Qantas has apologised after an R-rated movie featuring nudity and sexual material was played to all passengers onboard a flight between Sydney and Tokyo.

    The movie was reportedly manually put on after the onboard entertainment system failed. However the choice of the 2023 movie Daddio starring Dakota Johnson shocked passengers with young children on the flight.

    “The movie they played was extremely inappropriate. It featured graphic nudity and a lot of sexting – the kind where you could literally read the texts on screen without needing headphones," one person on the flight explained on Reddit.

    Qantas told the Daily Mail it was now investigating how the film was chosen.

    “The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience," a spokesperson said, adding the movie was swapped to a more family-friendly option once crew realised the error.

  • Australians seen as easy targets by international scammers

    A scammer working for a fully-functioning scam company in Europe says Australians are targeted more than others because of their perceived trusting nature and wealth.

    "I was told Australians have good money, a good salary," the man from the Ukraine told the ABC.

    He also said Americans are not targeted due to fearing the resources the FBI has in identifying and extraditing overseas scammers.

    "[There is] no such fear in Australia, because traditionally, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have never gone after these scammers," the man said.

  • Heinz apologies over missing detail in ad

    Heinz has apologised over an advert that's sparked a fair bit of backlash thanks to a glaring omission.

    Promoting their family-sized pasta sauces, the company used a wedding scenario with the parents of the groom joining the newly weds. However the parents of the bride, a Black woman, were only partly represented.

    "Black girls have dads too," a viral post on X about the billboard ads around London said, with many more calling out the ad.

    Heinz told The Independent they "understand how this ad could have unintentionally perpetuated negative stereotypes" and offered their "deepest apologies".

  • Man dies after car ploughs into home

    A man has died after a car ploughed into the front of a suburban home.

    The man was standing outside the Wiley Park home in Sydney's southwest early on Monday morning.

    Investigators believe a Toyota Corolla left the roadway and went through a fence before crashing into the front of a house.

    “A man, who was outside the house at the time, was allegedly struck by the car,” the police said.

    The driver of the Corolla, a 24-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for mandatory testing, police said.

    The police have charged him with negligent driving occasioning death and he will front court today.

  • Two more companies send Aussie workers back to the office

    Dell and Flight Centre are the latest companies sending Australian workers back to the office.

    Recruitment expert Graham Wynn said the country's workers should not be surprised if they're told working from home was coming to an end.

    "I think, realistically, people have to accept it is going to happen, and we're certainly seeing a huge decrease in the number of companies offering jobs with work-from-home or hybrid opportunities," he told Yahoo Finance.

    That was one Adelaide man's nonchalant reaction to landing an impressive $400,000 over the weekend.

    He was one of 13 people to share the Saturday X Lotto jackpot, calling his win "a lovely surprise" before admitting it was the best call he's ever received.

    Lottery officials are still searching for a few winners in NSW and Tasmania while two separate winners are from the Queensland city of Mackay.

    Over the weekend Oasis confirmed Australia is part of their expanded world tour next year, with two shows initially in the diary for Sydney and Melbourne in just over a year.

    Tickets will be available from Ticketek and Live Nation with the iconic band set to make an announcement tomorrow morning at 8am (AEDT).

    It was a big day for Australia's biggest sporting couple, with Mary Fowler scoring in a 2-0 win for Manchester City last night.

    But it was of course the exploits of her partner Nathan Cleary who led his Panthers side to a fourth Premiership in a row, a remarkable feat in the salary cap era, that stole the show.

    And the Matildas star needed just one word to share her admiration online.

    "Him," she captioned a picture of Cleary with the NRL trophy adding a heart-eyes and flame emoji.

  • Striking pictures as Israel ramps up Beirut attacks

    A new round of airstrikes hit Beirut suburbs late on Sunday as Israel intensified its bombardment of northern Gaza and southern Lebanon in a widening war with Iran-allied militant groups across the region. Palestinian officials said a strike on a mosque in Gaza killed at least 19 people.

    A year after Hamas' October 7 attack, Israel has opened a new front in Lebanon against Hezbollah, which has traded fire with Israel along the border since the war in Gaza began. Israel also has vowed to strike Iran after a ballistic missile attack on Israel last week.

    The widening conflict risks further drawing in the United States, which has provided crucial military and diplomatic support to Israel. Iran-allied militant groups in Syria, Iraq and Yemen have joined in with long-distance strikes on Israel.

  • Albanese 'condemns hatred' on October 7 anniversary

    Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says there is "no place in Australia for discrimination against people of any faith" as anti-Israel protests are expected on the first anniversary of the October 7 attack by Hamas.

    In a video statement, Albanese reflected on the date when 1200 people were killed, calling it “a day that carries terrible pain”.

    “Innocent lives taken at a music festival, women, men and children killed in their homes, brutality that was inflicted with cold calculation.”

    He said anti-Semitism had haunted the Jewish community over the past year.

    “Since the atrocities of October 7, Jewish Australians have felt the cold shadows of anti-Semitism reaching into the present day and as a nation, we say, never again,” Mr Albanese said.

    “We unequivocally condemn all prejudice and hatred."
