Why Liverpool fans were angry with match-winner Salah
Angry Liverpool fans have taken aim at star forward Mohamed Salah, despite the Egyptian sealing the Reds’ place in the Champions League knockout stages.
The home side beat Napoli 1-0 in another stirring night at Anfield thanks to a sublime individual goal from Salah and a moment of goalkeeping brilliance from Alisson Becker late in stoppage time.
Tension was high at Liverpool’s home ground, with the hosts progressing on goals scored, after finishing up tied on nine points with Napoli.
Each side had identical head-to-head records and goal difference, with Liverpool’s goal production seeing them scrape across the line.
Salah missed an early chance for Liverpool, controlling Andy Robertson’s ball poorly when he should have sent the Reds ahead.
However, he made amends in the 34th minute with an exquisite finish from a tight angle, beating Mario Rui and Kalidou Koulibaly before squeezing the ball through goalkeeper David Ospina’s legs
However, Salah’s subdued reaction to what turned out to be the match-winning goal left viewers bewildered.
Salah will score a goal but make it look like he did nothing. Hian smile, run around and celebrate why the stiffness

What's up with #Mo_Salah recently?
When he scores he doesn't celebrate he just stares at the fans#UCL #LIVERPOOL— GoldDigger07 Booi (@Goldfinger07B) December 12, 2018
@ESPNFC ..Why does Salah not celebrate goals anymore?

Salah literally won’t celebrate anything, not sure what he’s upto. Monster in making

I love Salah but I wish he would smile or celebrate 😂 even something mad

Salah’s celebrations were also subdued in the Premier League match against Bournemouth over the weekend where he netted a hat-trick.
Ulterior theories began floating around that the lack of emotion proves the Egyptian won’t be satisfied until he and the Reds go one better than last year.
Salah having a lack of emotion when he scores speaks volumes, it just shows how focused and determined he is. No more bullshit. No time to celebrate. PL and CL incoming. ⏱⏱⏱⏱⏱

Salah doesn't celebrate goals, as a wise man once said, 'When I score I don't celebrate. Does a postman celebrate when he delivers the post?' – Mario Balotelli#LFC

Salah’s new celebration in not celebrating… because it’s just like breathing to him. Do you celebrate every time you breathe? #LFC #GOAT

Liverpool dominated the game but Napoli could have gone through in the final stages had goalkeeper Alisson not kept out Arkadiusz Milik’s effort brilliantly.
“The goal Mo scored – what a goal, unbelievable – but the save Ali (Allison) made I have no words for that. That was the lifesaver tonight,” said Klopp.
“It was not only one save. He had a lot of things to do tonight. “When he comes out for crosses he is outstanding.”
Liverpool finished as runners-up in last season’s Champions League after a dramatic loss to Real Madrid in the final.
The Reds also ended up fourth on the Premier League table, however, Jurgen Klopp’s men currently sit atop the table – one point above Manchester City.
Spurs join Reds in knockout stages after dramatic win
Tottenham held Barcelona 1-1 at Nou Camp with Lucas Moura’s late equaliser proving to be decisive with group rivals Inter Milan playing to a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven.
Spurs needed to match or better the Italians’ result to follow Group B winners Barcelona into the next round, with Moura cancelling out Ousmane Dembele’s brilliant opener to level the scores after 85 minutes.
Borussia Dortmund topped Group A with a 2-0 win at Monaco while Atletico Madrid finish second after tying 0-0 at Club Brugge.
Dembele put the hosts ahead with a brilliant solo goal in the seventh minute but after a brilliant Cillessen save from substitute Moura, the Brazilian eventually scored from Harry Kane’s cross in the final stages.
“We had quite a few chances, it just wasn’t going in but we carried on and got the goal back,” said Kane.
“We still carried on trying to score more, we weren’t sure what the other score was.”
PSG strolled past Socceroo Milos Degenek’s Red Star in Belgrade to win 4-1 to secure top spot, with goals from all three forwards Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe and midfielder Marquinhos, while Marko Gobeljic scored for Red Star.
Galatasaray lost 3-2 against Porto in Group D but still qualified for the Europa League in third place as Lokomotiv Moscow lost 1-0 at Schalke.
The draw for the Champions League last 16 will be held on December 17.
