London travel news LIVE: Flooding blocks trains from stopping at Wembley Central as Gatwick services also hit

Flooding is causing issues on the railways with trains unable to stop at a north London station and Gatwick Airport services suffering weather-related disruption.

Southern trains are unable to stop at Wembley Central due as platforms 5 and 6 have been shut due to flooding.

Meanwhile heavy rain has flooded the railway between Ash and Guildford, in Surrey, causing disruption to Great Western Railway and South Western Railway services. National Rail says the disruption is expected to last until 3pm.

Great Western Railway services between Reading and Gatwick Airport are among those being affected.

It comes as a burst water main shut a chunk of Euston Road causing delays for motorists.

The busy road was shut eastbound between Great Portland Street Tube station and the Euston underpass.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix.com was reporting congestion back to Baker Street. The following buses were being diverted via Oxford Circus or Camden Town: 18, 21, 27, 30 and 205.

Large swathe of Victoria Line has no service

A large swathe of the Victoria Line has no service because of a fire alarm at King’s Cross St Pancras.

There is currently no service between Highbury & Islington and Brixton.

There are severe delays on the rest of the line, said TfL.

Southern forced to stop services at London station because it's 'too slippery'

Southern Rail services are not stopping at a north London station until the end of the day - because it’s too slippery.

The operator said its trains could not call at Wembley Central because the platforms for “safety reasons” as the platforms are “too slippery”.

It means Southern services won’t call at the station.

TfL and Network Rail services that call at the station, which serves Wembley Stadium, are not affected.

Euston Road burst water main hits businesses' trade

The burst water main on Euston Road, which has closed the eastbound lane of the major road, has hit trade businesses along the route.

A bar woman at the nearby Greene Man pub told the Standard: "I think it started at about six o'clock, maybe even earlier this morning.

“We've noticed it's definitely a lot quieter as a result, because the whole section of that road is closed off.

“But it's just one of those things isn't it. It's absolutely [the hole] popping out of the road."

Disruption to trains in south west London

Passengers have been warned to expect disruption between Wimbledon and Teddington until 4pm.

Lines have reopened following a passenger being taken ill on a train between Norbiton and Hampton Wick.

Trains may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 20 minutes as a result.

There are severe delays between Highbury and Islington and Crystal Palace/West Croydon due to an earlier person ill on a train at New Cross Gate.

Barista describes how road became blocked

A barista at Black Sheep Coffee, which is opposite the burst main said firefighters had attended the incident.

"Some people said the water was actually coming through and hitting cars. It's caused the whole road to be blocked.

“We were told we might lose water because of Thames Water having to shut off the mains but that hasn't happened yet."

Gatwick Airport trains affected after flooding closes lines

Flooding on the railway between between Ash and Guildford means all lines are blocked, National Rail has said.

The closure due to heavy rain is affecting Great Western Railway between Reading and Gatwick Airport.

South Western Railway between Farnham and Guildford is also affected.

Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised, National Rail said.

Disruption is expected until 3pm.Advice on alternative routes is available here.

Some trains not stopping at Wembley Central

Due to the platforms being closed for safety reasons at Wembley Central the line towards Clapham Junction, Selhurst and East Croydon is disrupted, National Rail has said. As a result, trains may be delayed or revised.

Southern services from Watford Junction towards Clapham Junction / Selhurst / East Croydon cannot stop at Wembley Central, in the southbound direction only.

These trains will run non-stop from Harrow & Wealdstone to Shepherds Bush.

Severe delays on District Line

There are currently severe delays on the District line between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road “due to an earlier customer incident”, Transport for London has said.

It said there was a good service on the rest of the line and London Underground tickets will be accepted on local bus services.

Services suspended on part of London Underground after person taken ill on train

Transport for London is reporting no service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction and between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon.

TfL said this was “while we help a person ill on a train at New Cross Gate.”

It said tickets are being accepted on buses and there is a good service on other routes.

Buses on diversion after Euston Road partially closed due to burst water main

The eastbound A501 Euston Road is shut from A4201 Albany Street (Great Portland Street Station) to the Euston Underpass due to flooding from a burst watermain.Traffic monitoring site Inrix is reporting congestion to Baker Street back along Marylebone Road.

Buses 18, 21, 27, 30 and 205 are being diverted via Oxford Circus or Camden Town, it reported.
