Ding ding! It's time for round 421 in the Lord Sugar vs Piers Morgan bout, and this time Alan is taking credit for Piers's career.

Gearing up for the upcoming launch of the latest series of The Apprentice, Lord Sugar asserted that Piers Morgan wouldn't be on our screens today if it wasn't for him.

(Mind you, we're not sure that's something worth admitting.)

Not before calling him "so boring", Shugs said (via The Sun): "It was me that launched his television career – seriously, absolutely serious."

Explaining how he gave Piers his first TV gig, he said: "[Piers] heard Celebrity Apprentice was on, and he said 'Please can I do it?' and that's the first time he appeared on television."

And that's not all Piers should be thankful to Alan for, because the billionaire is also the reason Piers went on to win the US version of the show. Apparently.

"Afterwards, I coached him how to win the American Apprentice – seriously, you should have been a fly on the wall when I did that," he revealed.

Someone else Lord Sugar might want to trade barbs with is former Apprentice candidate Frances Bishop, who recently accused the series of 'ruining lives'.

"The edit is horrific. The edit ruins lives. They don't show the whole decision-making process," she said.

Fans of The Apprentice can look forward to some more life-ruining business-focused competition when it returns to BBC One next Wednesday (October 4).
