Avengers: Infinity War is well on track to being the biggest superhero movie ever, and that includes a villainous posse for big bad Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Love/Hate and The Infiltrator actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor has confirmed that he will play a character surmised to be Ebony Maw, a member of the Black Order in Joe and Anthony Russo's Marvel film.

The Irish actor was asked on RTE Radio 1's Second Captains (via Dublin Live) whether he is in the movie, to which he hesitantly replied:

"I am," he said. "But it's like I'm one of those ones where you go into a sentence to say something about it and hope you have a job at the end of the sentence.

"You sign so many documents and waivers and people ask you about it and you have to give the generic and boring, 'I can't say too much about it'.

"But I am doing it and it's really amazing and an amazing thing to be part of."

He revealed that he was subject to extra background checks before he was cast in order to check that he wasn't a leak risk.

"With social media there's so much potential for leaks so [Marvel] understandably want to micro-manage things and make sure it goes out when they are ready," said Vaughan-Lawlor. "They didn't know me, so when I went over they were meeting me for the first time.

"They do background checks to make sure you're not a white supremacist and they're not hiring someone with weird baggage."

Vaughan-Lawlor was spotted wrestling with Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange in an Infinity War set photo.

Ebony Maw has the ability to manipulate the minds of others without them realising that they are under his control. The Black Order are being billed as Thanos's "children" in the MCU.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released in the UK on April 27, 2018, and in the US on May 4, 2018.
