Love Island star Sam Bird has accused Georgia Steel of cheating on him, days after the pair had split.

Speaking to The Sun, Sam claimed that he looked through Georgia's phone and saw a WhatsApp exchange between her and a friend which indicated that she spent the night at an ex-boyfriend's place.

He said that he believes the messages he read suggested that an affair was happening, and also pointed to a picture of her in her ex's bed.

Georgia denied the cheating accusations, sharing on Instagram that Sam came up with an "imaginary scenario" as a result of going through her phone and reading banter.

"Last night, Sam told me he was going to the press, so I just want to make clear ahead of any interviews he does that there was NO third party involved in the break-up between him and I," she wrote earlier today (October 19).

"Sam thinks I cheated because he went through my phone, read and took screenshots of banter I had between me and my best mate, which he's now threatening to sell to the press.

"The banter was about my ex-boyfriend from which he's then put two and two together and come up with an imaginary scenario."

Following Sam's press interview, Georgia's spokesperson said in a statement: "Georgia admits to spending the night with her ex on Monday but strongly denies cheating on Sam."

Sam had told The Sun: "After the ITV Gala, I sensed something was wrong. I had a gut feeling. Georgia told me she stayed with a friend after being at a PA.

"I looked at her phone and found messages she sent to her mates, and one of them had a selfie of her in bed with her ex and she put the word 'oops' and joked about it, and I thought that's not right.

"My gut feeling was found to be true. She's not the person I thought she was.

"She claims she was giving things back to her ex. You don't give things back at 4am. She said she stayed with her ex once but it happened twice. She said nothing happened and she stayed in the spare room, but there's a selfie of them together in bed. She's not telling the truth, which is why I wanted to defend myself."

On Wednesday (October 18), Sam said he was devastated but wished her "all the best" in a Twitter post.
