Love Island star Jack Fincham was given a six-week jail sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of having a dangerously out of control dog – with one incident resulting in injury to another person. However, he was released from prison the same day after he lodged an appeal, the BBC reports.

It's reported that Fincham showed a thumbs up sign as the sentencing was read out in Southend Magistrates' Court.

Back in September 2022, while Fincham was out running in the park, Fincham's dog Elvis attacked a member of the public who was also out running.

Following this, Fincham was initially set to receive a caution after apologising to the man (and having his apology accepted) and by agreeing to go on a course about responsible dog ownership, prosecutor Erin Peck told those in attendance at the court. As part of the deal, Fincham also agreed to muzzle Elvis in future to prevent any further harm.

However, a second incident of Fincham's dog being out of control occurred in June 2024. A woman had her leg grabbed at by the dog, but was not injured.

He has appealed the sentence. He will serve it if his appeal fails and no different penalty is imposed. Fincham has also been ordered to pay costs and compensation totalling £3,680.

When sentencing, magistrate Anne Wade advised that Fincham was subject to an unrelated suspended sentence (related to a driving matter) order at the time of the first dog attack in 2022.

"The dog was in a public place not abiding by the conditions to be muzzled and kept on a lead," she added.

Fincham has not posted anything on social media in relation to his six-week sentencing.
