Luis Suarez told Gerard Pique ‘do not f*** with me’ after Barcelona’s 4-3 defeat to Real Betis on Sunday.

It was the defending champions’ first loss at home in more than two years and cut their lead at the top of the table to just one point.

Barcelona fell behind to two first-half Betis goals before Lionel Messi halved the deficit from the penalty spot just after the hour mark. However, the expected fightback didn’t eventuate as Giovani Lo Celso restored Betis’ two goal lead just three minutes later.

Arturo Vidal scored to bring the deficit back to one goal but Ivan Rakitic was then sent off and Barca fell even further behind as Sergio Canales put Betis 4-2 ahead, which reduced Messi’s second strike in injury time to a mere consolation.

After the final whistle, several Barcelona players stood in the centre circle and where Suarez and Pique briefly clashed.

Spanish television channel Movistar caught Pique approaching Suarez before the Uruguayan said: “Now you’re going to f*** me for a pass, do not f*** with me.”

Pique quickly diffused the situation by replying: “Well, that’s it.”

Pique also had words with Arturo Vidal after a mix-up with the Chilean late in the game which cost Barcelona a chance.

Pique told Vidal: “If you say ‘mine’ it’s fine, but I have not heard ‘I’ in my life.”

The upcoming international break will allow Barcelona to regroup and prepare for their next match, a crucial clash against title rivals Atletico Madrid.
