MAFS' Daniel breaks silence on rumours he and Carolina have split
After weeks of speculation, Married At First Sight's most controversial couple Daniel Holmes and Carolina Santos have officially called it quits.
Daniel, who began hooking up with Carolina on this year’s season of the reality show while she was still ‘married’ to her on-screen husband Dion Giannarelli, shared a statement on Instagram on Monday confirming their split.
“I'm getting bombarded so much at the moment, considering all the articles out right now about the status of Carolina and I,” he wrote.
“I think it's been obvious for a while we have gone our separate ways. There's no right way to deal with these situations. There's a huge pressure to just hold off going public for as long as possible 'cause you know all the hate that's gonna come.”

The personal trainer-turned-3D designer then offered some kind words to his ex, wishing Carolina “all the best” in her future.
“And I know she feels the same for me,” he added. “We had a very unique experience together full of every emotion possible but life just has a different plan for us.”
Alongside the Instagram post, Daniel wrote in the caption: “Be kind pls”
Response from fans
Daniel’s followers were clearly divided by the news of his breakup, with a number of fans taking to the comments to express their sadness and wish him the best.
“I'm so sad for you guys. You were a wonderful couple and I'm so glad you both got something positive out of the experience. I hope you're OK and I'm wishing you lots of happiness,” one person wrote.
“So sorry to hear this. I had high hopes for you two! Hope you’re both doing ok,” another added, while a third said, “Hope you both find the happiness you deserve”.
Meanwhile, other followers had an issue with his caption and shared their advice for the future.
“I find it comical that you ask for kindness when you both showed none. Maybe use this as a lesson in life, treat others how you would want to be treated,” one user commented.
The signs that led to their split
Daniel and Carolina first sparked breakup rumours last month after he shared a cryptic post saying he was “crying every day” and struggling with his mental health.
A few days later, they uploaded a follow-up video addressing the post and insisted they were “still very much together”.
Carolina then reignited speculation that they had broken up a few days later when she posted a bikini snap alongside the caption: “Smile and no one will see how broken you are inside.”
The mother-of-one flew to London just last week, noticeably without Daniel, and is yet to comment on his Instagram post.
The pair have also removed their names from each other’s Instagram bios, although they still follow each other at the time of writing.
Meanwhile, the only other couple to come out of this year’s season of MAFS, Olivia Frazer and Jackson Lonie, also announced their split on Monday.
