RCMP say a 23-year-old man died early Friday in a single-vehicle crash in Moncton.

Members of the Codiac Regional RCMP, Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded at 1:34 a.m. to a report of a crash on Morton Avenue at the intersection of Pascal Poirier Street.

Police believe the crash occurred when the driver lost control of his vehicle, left the street and struck a power pole. The driver died at the scene.

The only passenger, a 19-year-old man, was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is underway.
