Man calls the police over five-year-old's lemonade stand

A five-year-old girl was left devastated when a man called the police to shut down her lemonade stall.

In a scathing post uploaded to Facebook, Jasmine’s father, Richard LaRoche, called out the unnamed man, who he claims approached his daughter after 10-minutes of her opening the stand in her California neighbourhood.

Richard called the man “pathetic” for trying to intimate his innocent daughter and telling her she would go to jail because she didn’t have a license.

“Whoever the man (I wouldn’t call you that if I didn’t have to) was who threatened to call the police on my daughter for her lemonade stand, you are seriously pathetic,” he wrote online.

“She is trying to do something constructive with her time and you hassled her for no good reason.

“There is a right way and a wrong way to do things. I understand that you are upholding the "law" but really dude?

“You're the reason why kids lack ambition nowadays, fear caused by schmucks like you, you are a sad individual.

“She said you picked up your phone and said you were calling the police. We all know you did that to intimidate her, just sad and pathetic.”

Speaking to The Gate, Richard said the man pulled up beside Jasmine in his car and started telling her he would call the poice.

"She was so scared that she came home crying and sobbing and said she didn’t want to go to jail,” he said.

Within hours Jasmine’s story made local news and the next day she set up her stall again, with her lemonade and cookies selling out within three hours.

"Ran out of cookies and had just enough lemonade for the last two police officers,” Richard said.
