Hackney: Man charged with four counts of attempted murder over shooting that left girl, 9, seriously injured
A man has appeared in court charged with four counts of attempted murder after a shooting that left a nine-year-old girl seriously injured.
The girl was one of four people injured following the shooting at the Evin Turkish restaurant in Kingsland High Street in Dalston, east London, at around 9:20pm on 29 May.
Police are still keen to hear from members of the public who may have information about the identity of a man seen on a motorbike in the high street at the time of the shooting.
Footage of the attack showed a gunman, riding a stolen motorbike, firing five shots and speeding off as families dived for cover under tables.
At the time, the Metropolitan Police said the nine-year-old girl was "fighting for her life", while three men who were sat outside - aged 26, 37 and 42 - were also injured.
In an update on Saturday, the force said Javon Reily - who was arrested on Friday following a vehicle stop in Chelsea Embankment - has been charged with four counts of attempted murder.
The 32-year-old, from Farnborough in Hampshire, was remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on 6 September.
A 35-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender has been released on police bail.
Girl who was shot 'may never speak again'
The Met Police said the girl remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Her family has been informed of the charges and continue to be supported by specially trained officers, the force added.
Last month, the girl's parents said a statement issued through police that they were still "devastated" and did not know if "she will be able to speak or move again" or return "to being the smart, funny girl that she was before".
They added that their daughter was only at the restaurant for ice cream.
The three men who were injured in the shooting were earlier released from hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who is leading the investigation, said: "My team continues to work around the clock in order to establish the facts of this incident.
"This is very much still an ongoing investigation and we urge those who have information to come forward. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has information about the identity of an individual seen on a motorcycle in Kingsland High Street at the time of this offence."
