Man from western P.E.I. charged after police find crystal meth in vehicle
A 40-year-old man from Miscouche, P.E.I., has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, as well as several other charges, after a targeted traffic stop in Summerside that left two police cars severely damaged.
In a news release sent out Friday, East Prince RCMP said officers stopped the man's car in Summerside at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
The man tried to drive away, but police cars boxed him in, the release said. Two police cars and the car the suspect was driving were severely damaged.
Police arrested the man in the car along with a 32-year-old woman from Granville, P.E.I.
RCMP said they seized about 11 grams of crystal methamphetamine, other pills and a pellet gun from the car. A single dose of crystal meth is 0.1 grams, the release said, so the amount seized is roughly 110 doses of the drug.
The release said the man will appear in court Friday to answer to the following charges:
Driving while prohibited
Flight from police
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Possession for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
Possession of firearm contrary to order
Breach of probation
The man also had a warrant outstanding for his arrest, the release said.
