Martha Stewart has shown once again what an icon she is, becoming Sports Illustrated's oldest cover model ever.

Describing her cover as "kind of historic", the 81-year-old pretty much broke the internet last night when she was revealed to be on the cover of the magazine's annual swimsuit edition. Previously, Elon Musk's mother, model Maye Musk, was the oldest star to pose for Sports Illustrated, appearing on the cover in 2022 at the age of 74.

"When I heard that I was going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, I thought: 'Oh, well that's pretty good. I'm gonna be the oldest person, I think, ever on the cover of Sports Illustrated'," she said in a video interview with the magazine. "I don’t think about age very much, but I thought that this is kind of historic and that I better look really good."

This year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue features four cover models – Megan Fox, Brooks Nader, Kim Petras and, of course, Martha Stewart – and aims to celebrate powerful women who "live in a world where they feel no limitations, internally or externally."

Speaking about the cover on her own Instagram page, Martha told her fans: "I am so thrilled to be on the cover of the @SI_Swimsuit issue!"

"My motto has always been: 'when you're through changing, you're through,' so I thought, why not be up for this opportunity of a lifetime?" she went on. "I hope this cover inspires you to challenge yourself to try new things, no matter what stage of life you are in. Changing, evolving, and being fearless – those are all very good things, indeed."
