The Masked Singer 2020: Jackie O drops Dragonfly spoiler on air

Jackie O Henderson has dropped the first major gaffe of The Masked Singer 2020 on live radio, inadvertently confirming a famous face who is not on the show.

Appearing on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday morning, Jackie fielded exactly one question from co-host Kyle Sandilands and newsreader Brooklyn Ross before she cracked, confirming that Sophie Monk is not the face behind the Dragonfly mask.

Sophie was many a fans’ pick for the famous face behind the elaborate Dragonfly mask, but has now been struck from the list of possible names after Jackie’s major stumble.

She let slip the news after Brooklyn Ross theorised on Sophie’s possible part on the show.

“Watching the Dragonfly, it sounded a lot like Sophie Monk, but then I was like, Jackie would have just clicked on that, surely,” he said to the host.

Kyle tried to give Jackie a helping hand, pointing out the live audio can differ vastly from what viewers hear at home.

“So different, so different,” Jackie responded. “Just wait until you hear next week. Wah, nothing like Sophie Monk.”

The awkward spoiler was immediately picked up by the host, who audibly cringed on-air, admitting she was going to be in ‘trouble’ with Channel 10 over the slip.

“Oh, jeez, I've said too much already,” she bemoaned. “I really have to be careful. I'm going to get in so much trouble.”

The Masked Singer hinges on the identity of its star’s being kept under strict wraps, as they perform a hit song weekly to a judging panel who try desperately to guess their identity based off the performance, and clues released every episode.

Last year, faces including Brett Lee, Nikki Webster and ultimately Corey Worthington were unmasked each week to the shock and delight of audiences.

So far 2020 has seen two-time Davis Cup winner Mark Philippoussis unmasked as the Echidna, while Aussie cricketer Michael Bevan was revealed to be Hammerhead on Monday evening’s episode.

Last year also came with its fair share of spoilers, with Rob Mills being revealed as The Wolf in a major social media gaffe long before he was unmasked in the semi-final.

This year’s season of the show saw celebrity judge Lindsay Lohan replaced by comedian Urzula Carson, a swap some fans have called an ‘upgrade’ despite the lack of Hollywood pedigree on display this year.
