Matt Reeves has been teasing what we can expect from The Batman.

His new movie War for the Planet of the Apes isn't even in cinemas yet, but the director has still been grilled on the publicity campaign for Apes about his DC Extended Universe outing.

Understandably, he can't say much about it as he's barely started on it, although he did outline how it'll be similar to his acclaimed Apes outings.

"In all the films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character and you empathise with that point of view," Reeves told New Trailer Buzz.

"There's a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way that hopefully is going to connect you to what's going on inside of his head and inside of his heart."

Considering Reeves has made us feel for a whole bunch of apes, we're confident he'll be able to do the same with Batman.

And talking of Apes, he sees a similarity between Batman and Caesar: "They're both characters who are tortured and trying to grapple within themselves to find a way to do the right thing in a very imperfect, and to some degree, corrupt world."

Reeves has also recently confirmed that Ben Affleck will suit up again for The Batman, despite stepping back from directing it earlier this year.

The Batman doesn't yet have a release date.
