Matthew McConaughey reveals teen sexual assault in memoir
Matthew McConaughey, 50, has revealed that he was sexually abused multiple times as a young man in his explosive new memoir, Greenlights.
In the book released on October 20, the Oscar winner opens up about his traumatic past which saw him coerced into losing his virginity at 15.
“I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15,” he writes as quoted by Page Six.
“I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case.”
Just three years later, the Dallas Buyer’s Club star states that he was assaulted by a man in a car.
“I was molested by a man when I was eighteen while knocked unconscious in the back of a van,” he states.
Matthew offers no further details on either incident in Greenlights but claims that he doesn’t feel like a victim.
“I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy,” he says.

Dad ‘died during sex’
His history of assault is not the only shocking revelation to come out of Matthew’s memoir. Greenlights also recounts in explicit detail how his father Jim died of a heart attack during sex with Kay, his mother in 1992.
An extract published in People reads: “I got a call from my mom. ‘Your dad died.’ My knees buckled. I couldn’t believe it.
“He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him. Except mom.
“He’d always told me and my brothers, ‘Boys, when I go, I’m gonna be makin’ love to your mother.’ And that’s what happened. He had a heart attack when he climaxed.”
The X-rated information was not received well by many on social media, with some labelling it “classless” and others asking if he had received his mother’s permission before sharing such private details.
Matthew has previously shared the tale during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show where he explained how his parents had an on-again-off-again relationship that lasted almost 40 years.
The passionate pair was married three times and divorced twice; “They were wild,” he laughed.
Elsewhere in Greenlights Matthew also revealed that he knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a father himself.
Speaking on Good Morning America, he said: “I was meeting some of his new friends, looking up at them and shaking their hands, and saying, 'Nice to meet you, sir.'
“In my eight-year-old mind, what I noticed at that time, was every man that I had said 'sir' to -- the common denominator was they were all fathers, and I remember saying, 'That's when you've made it. That's when you've succeeded in life, when you become a father.’”
Matthew is now the proud father of three children — sons Levi, 12, Livingstone, seven and daughter Vida, 10 — who he shares with his wife, Camila Alves.
