Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are less than a week into their new lives as non-working royals, but it seems they already know the direction their careers plan to take. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they will be calling their new charitable organisation 'Archewell' - inspired by their young son Archie Harrison.

The couple originally intended to launch a foundation under the name Sussex Royal, but these plans had to be abandoned after it was ruled they would not be able to include the word 'royal' in any commercial ventures. This was not, as some assumed, a move from the royal family to make things difficult, but because there are laws in place to prevent misuse of the term 'royal' in this country.

But according to a statement given to the Telegraph, Meghan and Harry were always keen on calling their non-profit venture something related the word that inspired the name of their son. "Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of 'Arche' - the Greek word meaning 'source of action'.

"We connected to this concept for the charitable organisation we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters.

"Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon. We look forward to launching Archewell when the time is right."

The Telegraph reports the Sussexes have filed paperwork in the United States to create "their own charity and volunteering services, wide-ranging website, and sharing 'education and training materials' via films, podcasts and books."

The couple has submitted trademark requests in the States for a wide array of things - more than they did under the Sussex Royal trademark requests in the UK - including motion picture films and branded objects such as paperclips.

It makes sense that Meghan and Harry would want to work on the advancement of mental health resources, considering it's an issue so close to their hearts. Prince Harry has openly spoken about going to therapy to deal with the grief of losing his mother, Princess Diana, at such a young age. During their royal tour to Australia in 2018, Meghan also spoke about the difficulty of social media when it comes to mental health - revealing she was glad she had quit the platforms when she became a royal.

But while these are all exciting plans in the making for the Duke and Duchess, they're not going to be launching anything just yet. In their statement to the Telegraph, the Sussexes said: "Like you, our focus is on supporting efforts to tackle the global Covid-19 pandemic but faced with this information coming to light, we felt compelled to share the story of how this came to be."

At least we can add this to the list of things we're excited for once the pandemic is over and done with, and normal life can resume.
