Royal fans were delighted yesterday when Kensington Palace released three new images of Prince Louis to mark his first birthday.

And while fans all over the world were commenting on Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Instagram account wishing the tot a happy birthday, there was one comment that copped a lot of flak – and it came from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took to the comments section to dote over their nephew, saying: “Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us.”

It may seem like a cute moment of public family interaction to us but the comment angered a lot of royal watchers, who were fuming Prince Harry and Meghan Markle didn’t use Louis’ official title.

“All the other official accounts said Prince Louis. Why are you different?” one commenter said, while another person said: “Happy birthday PRINCE Louis!”

One person even accused the duke and duchess of trying to steal Louis’ thunder by posting on the KensingtonRoyal Instagram page.

“Why not post on your own Instagram page?? Just had to come here and take some attention away as usual…yawn,” they said.

However, Meghan and Harry fans stuck up for their favourite royal couple, saying that people were reading too much into the comment, which was meant to be a sweet birthday wish.

“Do you really think they all call each other prince, princess, duke, duchess etc? Come on lighten up,” one person said.

The comment comes just two days after Meghan Markle was left out of the Cambridge’s official birthday wish to the Queen.

Kensington Palace posted a tribute to the Queen on her 93rd birthday yesterday, with the caption: ‘Wishing a very happy 93rd birthday to Her Majesty The Queen!’

The picture accompanying the snap showed Prince William and Kate Middleton beaming with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the royal balcony for the Trooping the Colour in 2016.

They can be seen standing alongside the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Prince Harry for the big day.

However, fans wondered why the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge didn’t use a photo from the most recent Trooping the Colour, where the whole family – including Meghan Markle – were in attendance.

“Interesting how #kensingtonroyal choose a photo without Meghan in it,” one fan said.

“Interesting choice of photo… almost like you looking for trouble. Is there not enough rumours and speculation going around. Why add fuel to the fire?,” another commenter said.

However, others were quick to point out that Clarence House and Sussex Royals’ Instagram accounts all posted photos online of them alone with the Queen.

“Prince Harry’s account had posted pictures without Princess Kate, and the couple doesn’t even live in the Kensington palace anymore so please respect the choice of a photo in this account without any bias,” one person said.

“Stop whining about Meghan not being in this pic. 1) It’s the Queen’s Birthday, not Meghan’s. 2) It’s an old photo… look how little George and Charlotte are!” another royal fan said.
