Meghan Markle's ancestor was beheaded by King Henry VIII

She’s said to be invited to Buckingham Palace for Christmas dinner but things might get a bit awkward around the table when the conversation turns to Meghan Markle's family.

According to reports, one of the 36-year-old’s ancestors was beheaded under the orders of King Henry VIII in 1536.

Amateur historian, Michael Reed, claims that the Suits actress’s ancestor, Lord Hussey, was a highly dignified member of the King’s inner circle.

Lord Hussey was reportedly very close to King Henry VIII and was even knighted for remaining so loyal.

However, he was beheaded after being found guilty of treason when his loyalty was tested during the Pilgrimage of Grace rebellion.

Fast forward to the 1650’s and his great-great-great-grandson, Captain Hussey decided to leave England on an expedition.

He eventually became one of the Founding Fathers of Nantucket and just two generations later, Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle was born.
