As one of the biggest style icons of our era, it comes as no surprise that royal family members look to Princess Diana for fashion inspiration. And that's exactly what Meghan Markle just did for her latest public appearance.

This week, Meghan and Harry visited the Assistance League of LA's Preschool Learning Center on the 23rd anniversary of Princess Diana's tragic passing. While there, the duo paid homage to the late Diana by planting her favourite flower seeds, forget-me-nots. But the Duchess' tribute didn't stop there.

To mark the occasion Meghan donned a decidedly un-royal fashion trend, also favoured by her mother-in-law.

"The children of our Preschool Learning Center got a wonderful surprise when The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited yesterday! ❤️" reads the preschool's Instagram post, featuring pictures of Meghan and Harry's visit.

"In addition to helping the children replant the Preschool Learning Center's garden, they spent time with them, sharing their appreciation for nature and helping to instill the importance of healthy eating. We truly appreciate their time and care for our students. 🌱"

While assisting with the gardening, Meghan's pictured wearing a double denim outfit, consisting of a lighter wash pale blue denim shirt, rolled up to prevent soil marks, coupled with a pair of darker indigo jeans and minimalist black pumps. The result? An effortlessly chic, 90s-inspired look that we can 100% imagine Diana wearing:

Yep, denim-on-denim definitely isn't a look we're used to seeing on the more traditional royal family members, but perhaps that's exactly why Meghan and Diana have worn it. Either way, we can all agree it's a super fashion-forward look and we're very here for this stylish tribute.
