Michelle Pfeiffer is no stranger to superhero movies. You’ll recall she was the cat’s meow in 1992’s Batman Returns as none other than, well, Catwoman. And years later, she has signed on for another superhero film.

Get excited, because Pfeiffer has joined the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp!

She’ll play Janet Van Dyne/the OG Wasp, who is the mother to Hope Van Dyne/the new Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and wife to Hank Pym/the OG Ant-Man (Michael Douglas).

In Ant-Man, it’s explained that Janet was lost to another realm many years earlier. Soooo, does Pfeiffer’s casting mean that Janet makes it out of that realm? Or, will we see her in flashback form?

There’s so many possibilities and as usual, we have so many questions — but if Janet’s anything like her kickass daughter, she’s got to be great.

The news was announced during Marvel’s Comic-Con panel in which Paul Rudd and Michale Peña — who play Scott Lang/the new Ant-Man and his friend Luis, respectively — jokingly explained the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Pfeiffer.

During the panel, Marvel even treated fans to a first look at Pfeiffer’s character!

Okay, no, that’s just a GIF of an actual wasp, but sometimes we just need to have fun.

ANYWAY, Peyton Reed will return to direct the sequel, which also just enlisted Morpheus himself Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo. Then there’s Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is scheduled to fly into theaters on July 6th, 2018 — and we’re so hoping that we’ll get to see the two wasps come together onscreen!
