'I have nothing to hide': Miley Cyrus slams cheating rumours in lengthy Twitter confessional
Singer Miley Cyrus, 26, has taken to Twitter to address the cheating rumours that have dogged her recent split from her husband, 29-year-old Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.
In the lengthy confessional shared on Friday, the ‘Wrecking Ball’ hit-maker - who was snapped kissing Kaitlynn Carter, the estranged partner of Brody Jenner, earlier this month - denies being unfaithful in her marriage and asserts she has “nothing to hide”.
The former Hannah Montana star also admits to past drug use but claims she’s the “healthiest and happiest” she’s been in a while, and that she’ll “always” love her ex Liam, who filed for divorce on Wednesday.
Miley Cyrus slams cheating rumours
Across 11 tweets that were posted in quick succession, the Tennessee native reveals while she “f***ed up and cheated” when she was younger, she’s always remained “committed” to Hunger Games star Liam.
“I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide,” she begins.
“But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled,I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP”.
Miley says: ‘I am not a liar’
Miley goes on to say she’ll “always” love her on-and-off partner of 10 years who she married in December 2018, but has made the “healthy decision” to leave her “previous life” behind.
“I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will,” she continued.
“BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking, foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar.”
Miley ‘experimented’ with drugs
In the lengthy post, the singer also detailed her past drug use and wild ways that saw her swing naked on a wrecking ball and twerk on stage at the 2013 VMAs.
“It is no secret that I was into partying in my teens and early 20’s. I have not only smoked, but advocated for weed, I’ve experimented with drugs, my biggest song to date is about dancing on molly and snorting lines in the bathroom,” she wrote.
She goes on to list some of the implications of her risqué lifestyle on her career, revealing she “lost a massive Walmart deal at 17 for ripping a bong”.
“I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it,” she added.
Miley Cyrus is moving on
The soon-to-be-divorced star concludes her stream-of-consciousness Twitter thread by saying, “I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where I was when I was a younger”.
And Miley appeared to have moved on with Kaitlynn, 30, who recently separated from reality TV star Brody Jenner one year after the couple tied the knot.
She and Miley were photographed getting up close and personal earlier this month while on a holiday in Italy, which appears to have inspired Miley’s brand new tattoo.
She debuted the intricate snake ink on her left forearm on Thursday on the Instagram account of LA tattoo artist Doctor Woo who captioned the pic, “Cool old sculpture @mileycyrus found in Italy”.
Miley and Kaitlynn also reportedly gifted Brody Jenner a weed bouquet for his 36th birthday on Wednesday.
Liam Hemsworth lays low
Liam, however, has been keeping a low profile while staying with his famous brother Chris at his Byron Bay mega-mansion.
The newly single star also released a statement regarding the split, calling for privacy and wishing his long-time love - who he met while filming 2009's The Last Song - “health and happiness”.
After an on-and-off romance the couple wed in a private ceremony at their home in Tennessee on December 23, 2018, but since the split the Aussie hunk has been linked to fellow homegrown actor Isabel Lucas, who once starred on local soap Home and Away alongside his brother Chris.
Liam is also said to have hired an $850-an-hour divorce lawyer to manage proceedings just 11 days after news of the couple’s marriage breakdown surfaced and cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as reason for their separation.
