2018 marks 10 years of Castiel on Supernatural, but actor Misha Collins has revealed he's keen to jump back behind the camera in the near future.
Collins previously helmed an episode of the long-running series, season 9's 'Mother's Little Helper', in 2014.
That was also his TV directing debut and now he's ready for an encore, telling Digital Spy: "I think I will soon ask for another directing slot.
"I have a lot of other projects that I work on, on the side, and I fill up my time with those and directing takes a lot of time. It's full-time, for like three and a half weeks.
"That has been the challenge. But I loved the experience [last time] and I'd love to do it again."
The next season of Supernatural will be the show's shortest in a decade, running to a (still fairly substantial) 20 episodes, but that doesn't mean we'll be seeing less of Castiel.
Collins has confirmed that he'll appear in roughly the same number of episodes as previous, meaning we'll get "a higher percentage" of Cas.
"He's in a lot of scripts," said executive producer and writer Eugenie Ross-Leming, adding that Cas will become the "de-facto parent" of Jack (Alexander Calvert), building a relationship that Ross-Leming describes as "tough" but also "profound and sweet".
"Jack and Cas definitely have a very special connection," said Calvert. "We're going to see where that goes, and push it a little further this season than we did last year."
Supernatural season 14 returns on Thursday, October 11 at 8/7c on The CW. The series airs on E4 in the UK.
