With the country still in lockdown, and salons closed until further notice, DIY beauty treatments and at-home hair dye attempts are fast becoming the norm.

Shakira was the latest celebrity to switch up her hair colour. She went for a bold red, which looked stunning but turned out to be a bit of a faux pas (she wasn't actually aiming for a Kyle Jenner red, but a candy floss pink - keen to join the likes of Demi Lovato and Dua Lipa).

One celebrity we've enjoyed following for all her beauty tit-bits is Molly-Mae Hague. She's refreshingly honest in her YouTube videos, even opening up recently about getting her "bad" face fillers dissolved. She also shared her prom picture (it literally looks nothing like her), as well as every single product in her makeup routine (we took notes).

We appreciate it when celebs keep it real for their social media channels, mixing up the glossy grid pics (of which molly has plenty) with some more gritty RL Insta stories. And Molly did exactly that over the weekend when she shared her rather traumatic acrylic nail experience.

Like many, she's been unable to get to a nail bar, so has been growing out her gel manicure during lockdown. She finally decided to evict the talons, but before you go assuming she just yanked them off and caused herself an injury, you'd be wrong.

Molly did all the right things - ordering a special acetone removal kit from Amazon and taking the time to soak them all off individually. But things didn't exactly go to plan...

And then came the gruesome bit. Obviously Molly was feeling determined to finish the job, and pulled a little too hard on one of the stubborn acrylics, because the next picture she posted showed a deep crack right down the nail, and quite a bit of blood...

We're not sure why she had so much trouble (a long soak with acetone should have done the job), but one thing's for sure, she's going to need plenty of plasters and paracetamol going forward...
