"I'm really happy, I mean it's pretty awesome to meet the girls already and be in with the team. Just to be part of this organisation is pretty incredible. The rich history and the fact that the women's team has continued to improve year after year, I'm really happy to take this next step in my career."

4. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEX MORGAN SAYING:

"Actually everything happened really fast. I was spending time in Orlando with my team in the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League) and it just hit me that I needed consistent games, consistent training, for an entire season. And Tottenham is obviously a huge club that was on my radar and within less than 48 hours we were able to get the deal signed and completed, and within 48 hours after that I'm pretty sure I landed here."

5. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEX MORGAN SAYING:

"You know I've just heard so many great things about the WSL (Women's Soccer League) and obviously there's been some huge signings in the recent years, and some of my team mates from the U.S. national team have come over, and the positive feedback I've gotten from a lot of my team mates and players that I know who are playing here.

"I wanted to challenge myself and play in a different league than I'm used to, and just joining Spurs so spontaneously almost at last minute at the deadline right before the transfer close, there was just a lot of adrenaline and excitement as well that went along with that."

7. (SOUNDBITE) (English) ALEX MORGAN SAYING:

"I can't really think too much in the future without really sitting down for a long period of time and I don't have that amount of time to make that decision so drastic for my family, so whether that's three months, six months or even further, I'll take it one step at a time right now."

8. MORGAN TRAINING

STORY: New Tottenham Hotspur Women signing Alex Morgan said she is delighted her whirlwind move to the London club went through so quickly.

Spurs signed United States international and twice World Cup winner Alex Morgan on a season-long deal just days before the transfer window closed, leaving the 31-year-old little time to think about the decision.

However speaking in London after training with her new team mates, Morgan said she was happy to make the move.

"Just to be part of this organisation is pretty incredible. The rich history and the fact that the women's team has continued to improve year after year, I'm really happy to take this next step in my career," she said.

"Tottenham is obviously a huge club that was on my radar and within less than 48 hours we were able to get the deal signed and completed, and within 48 hours after that I'm pretty sure I landed here."

Morgan joins the north London club from National Women's Soccer League side Orlando Pride where she spent four seasons.

An Olympic gold medallist, Morgan has scored 107 goals and grabbed 43 assists in 169 games for the U.S. and won the World Cup in 2015 and 2019.

Morgan is the fifth high-profile U.S. international to join the WSL this season after Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis signed for Manchester City while Tobin Heath and Christen Press joined Manchester United.

American players have looked to the WSL in search of more game time after the NWSL season in the U.S. was truncated this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morgan joins fellow Pride team mates Shelina Zadorsky and Alanna Kennedy, who also joined Spurs on loan in August.
