Most Thais See Domestic Political Turmoil Persisting, Poll Says
(Bloomberg) -- Most Thais expect the country’s political turmoil to continue or worsen this year as Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra holds to her power, according to an opinion poll.

About 50.6% respondents said they see political tensions staying at current levels in 2025, according to the Dec. 16-18 survey by the National Institute of Development Administration, known as Nida. About 40% expected the situation to worsen. The poll involved 1,310 Thais aged 18 and above and has a margin of error of 3%, Nida said.
About 51.2% of the respondents anticipate Paetongtarn will hold on to the the top leadership post, the Nida poll showed. About 21.6% expect her to reshuffle her Cabinet.
Paetongtarn was picked for the prime ministerial post in August in a parliament vote just days after the removal of her predecessor, Srettha Thavisin, by the Constitutional Court in an ethics violation case.
Asked on their opinion of the Thai economy, 34.4% of respondents expect it to still be sluggish, while 32.3% see the slowdown worsening, according to the poll.
