Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll has slammed critics of the hit comedy series.

O'Carroll, who plays matriarch Agnes Brown, has defended the BBC sitcom from some pretty received mixed viewer reactions in the past.

Speaking to The Sun, the actor shared his piece of advice for those criticising the show: "Just change the f**king channel."

"Honestly, I put on my dress and my tits and go out and make people laugh," O'Carroll continued. "I come off, take off my dress, take off my tits, get into the shower, come out and as soon as I come out of the theatre, I don't even think about the show.

"The evidence of four NTA awards means people are not just liking it – they're actually prepared to stand up and shout it."

O'Carroll's wife Jennifer Gibney, who plays his daughter Cathy in the sitcom, has admitted that she didn't get how some people could be "that annoyed" about the series.

"I don't understand how anybody could get that annoyed," she said. "There's some telly I don't like but I'd never be full of vitriol."
