'Much-loved' father died in multi-vehicle crash in Airdrie

Police have named a 58-year-old man killed in crash involving three cars and a bus in North Lanarkshire.

Frank Hooper was driving on Stirling Street in Airdrie town centre at about 15:25 on Friday when his car was in collision the bus and two cars.

He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.

In a tribute, his family said: “Frank was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.”

No other injuries were reported. The road was closed for a short time but has since reopened.

Road Policing Sergeant Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Hooper.

“Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to make contact.
