Mum exercises with newborn 10 days after birth

We’ve seen Melbourne mum Anna Strode doing kettlebell exercises with a very pregnant belly, and churning out squats and lunges in the delivery room while waiting for her contractions to “ramp up”.

Now just days after welcoming her adorable daughter Madi Grace, the Instagram star has shared a video of her doing 'gentle’ exercises, with her bub in tow.

Proudly back in her active wear, the 32-year-old admits she initially felt more comfortable in trackies, but decided to film herself in a crop top and shorts to inspire mums everywhere feel comfortable in their post-baby bodies.

“10 days postpartum and trust me when I say... My first instinct when I went to film this gentle workout was COVER THE HELL UP,” Anna revealed on Instagram.

“I put on my compression tights + my spanx to suck my tummy in as much as I could, put baggy tracksuit pants on to hide the wobbles on my legs and one of hubby’s t-shirts so you couldn’t see my arms or belly. I stood there for a moment and while I felt 'safe' that my post baby body was hidden, it just didn't feel right.”

Exercise-lover Anna, who is also mum to twin boys Lachie and Sammy, was later forced to hit back at critics who claimed she was working out too soon.

"I'm just doing a few exercises here and there to help me feel a little better as to be honest, my emotions are all over the place. I'm quite the blubbery mess,” Anna revealed in a post a few days after sharing her workout video.

“A few people commented that I was 'working out' too soon on my last video. I have no intention of returning to any vigorous exercise anytime soon and I work alongside a women's health physio.”

Anna first shot to fame last year, after revealing she was using her twin boys as 10kg dumbbells to help her tone up.

Showing off a six-pack just eight months after having her sons, the mum admitted she exercised 20 minutes each day and used it as ‘me time’.

It's something Anna's hoping can help her again this time as she gets back to exercising at her own pace.

“I’m doing this because I want to remain true, I want to show mamas that there is NO reason to hide, NO reason to be ashamed and NO reason to feel the need to ‘bounce back’,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Just let it be, let the body recover at it’s own pace… I won’t be rushing back into exercise or putting pressure on myself to lose the ‘mummy tummy’. I’ll be doing very gentle exercise to help give me the strength and energy I need.”
