Mum’s generous Kmart gift idea goes viral
Christmas is the time for giving, and one Aussie mum has proved just how important that is to those who are less fortunate in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.
Posting to the Kmart Mums Australia page, the mum shared a snap of elaborate gift packs she had put together for those in need.
“I've been lucky enough to have a great year,” she wrote.
“Instead of buying ridiculous amounts of present that no one really needs, as a family we've decided to go into the city Christmas Eve to hand out these gift bags to the less fortunate.”
The generous Melbourne mum shared snaps of her care packages, which included clothes, toiletries, a yoga mat, lollies and wine.
Her Christmas act of kindness clearly struck a chord, with over 11,000 reactions to her post.
“How beautiful!” one person commented. “The world needs more people like you in it!”
“As someone who works in this sector, can I please thank you for your generosity towards those less fortunate,” wrote another.
With others claiming she was an inspiration and “truly the spirit of Xmas”, others had some practical suggestions to offer others who might want to do the same thing.
“Fantastic thing to do BUT if that is real wine that's not a good idea,” one said.
“When I did packs up recently they insisted that anything that had alcohol content not be put in the pack.”
“Technically you aren’t allowed to drink in public unless it’s in a specific area,” added another.
“They can get in to trouble. I’d swap it for maybe a bottle of flavoured mineral water.”
